I'm Maria
I’m a Nutrition Therapy Practitioner, Herbalist, Yoga facilitator, podcast host and the founder of The Health Habit.

But more than anything… I’m someone who spent years searching for a more connected way of living.
​
My journey into holistic wellness started when I was 13 years old.
​
Growing up, both of my grandfathers had type 2 diabetes. One of them made the decision to attend a holistic nutrition clinic and through food, lifestyle changes, and real support, he completely reversed it.
​
Watching him reclaim his health changed the trajectory of my life.
I became fascinated by the idea that the body could heal when given the right support.
That moment sparked a deep curiosity that eventually led me to pursue a bachelor’s degree in nutrition and Dietetics.
I thought I was stepping into the world that helped my grandfather heal. But the deeper I got into the field, the more disconnected I felt.
I was learning information… but not transformation.

The systems I was studying looked good on paper, but they often felt rigid, clinical, and disconnected from how women actually live.
​
And deep down, I knew wellness had to be about more than just nutrients and protocols.
​
That realization changed everything.

Two months before graduation, during a trip to North Carolina, I met a clinical herbalist at a farmer’s market. I asked him endless questions about plants, healing, and herbal medicine and something inside me immediately clicked.
​
It felt like I had finally found the missing piece.
​
I realized that true healing needed to include more than just food.
It needed to include:
the nervous system,
the emotional body,
our connection to nature,
our daily rhythms,
our stress,
our environment,
our sense of purpose,
and the way we actually experience life itself.
​
So instead of becoming a registered dietitian, I chose a different path.

I spent years studying herbalism through the Chestnut School of Herbal Medicine while continuing to search for a more complete and deeply human approach to wellness.
​
Eventually, while working as a phlebotomist, I discovered the Nutritional Therapy Association and became a Nutrition Therapy Practitioner.
​
For the first time, all the pieces came together.
Nutrition.
Herbalism.
Embodiment.
Nature.
Nervous system support.
Mind-body connection.
Sustainable wellness.
​
And that became the foundation of The Health Habit.
Today, my work blends science and spirituality into grounded holistic wellness practices that help women reconnect to themselves and create healthier, more intentional lives.
​
Through Wellness Consistency Reset, yoga classes, herbal products, educational content, and transformational conversations, I help women stop overthinking wellness and start building lives that actually feel good to live.​
Lives that feel calmer.
More connected.
More nourishing.
More grounded.
And fully alive.
